First post - here goes... Both my son and I have Explorers with V6 and AT - mine 1994 and his 1999. We have been told that we need crank sensors (I forget the code no's) and that only a Ford dealership can remove and install new. Have also been told that the one for my '94 is no longer available and I will need to visit a junk yard. Any of this true? Thanks, Tom

in my manual on the 1999 it does have to be set in a specific range if your talking about the one by the bottom of the motor left side of vehile under the alternator but if you know what your doing you can do that looking at the manual its like setting a distributer 4.0l v6 5.0l v8. but maybe someone else nows better because i personally never messed with it
