I was driving on 202 saturday and pushed hard on the gas because i was merging and some arsehole was coming up way to quick from behind. The check engine light poped on and my rpms shot down quick. THe Light is still on and its Monday. A strange smell was coming from under my hood that day and now it just sounds funny and this all happened after my 20000 mile expection..... What could be wrong?

Don't know what to tell you right now, but try and go to a local garage and see if they will pull your trouble codes and determine why your light came on. If that's not an option then you should be able to buy code readers at local stores like WAL-MART or online. This will tell you what code triggered and you can go from there?

Just to put your mind as ease, not that it's the solution, they noise and smell might have been your imagination. I know if I "think" something happened, then all of a sudden my car drives fer $hit and I wanna cry :).

Take a look at the trouble code and get back to us. Might only be a sensor was out a spec.

Also, disconnect your battery for 15 min (I think) This should reset your computer and clear all the codes. If it comes back on, then it should be looked into further.
