Check gauge

Anyone know what the Check Gauge means? I searched the 'net and it seems to be related to Oil pressure. I get the check gauge light to stay on about 10 seconds after starting the truck. It goes off and does not come back on. Only on startup and only sometimes. I checked of OBD codes, there were not any.

On my 02 Sport the check gauge light comes on when the the gas tank is near empty. The check gauge light seems to be an idicator that you need to look at your gauges. I hope this helps.

This may sound stupid but what do the gauges say, is the oil pressure up battery charging, gas. It most likely not temp as you just say it only happens when you start the truck.

I would check the battery and the oil.

I think it is supposed to light up on start up for a breif moment then turn off.

it runs a bulb check, but if it stays on then there's a problem that needs to be looked at

According to my owners manual the check gauge light can indicate a problem with one of three things. The fuel level, the oil pressure or the engine temp. The fact that it stays on at startup and then goes off after a little while would indicate to me that you have a problem with the oil pressure. Watch the oil pressure gauge while this is on. I hope this helps.

All guages look good. Checked the OIL and it looks about 1/2 qt low. Will do OIl Change this weekend and monitor. Thanks

my light comes on thn goes off ,,, when it comes on the temp and oil guage
go to 0 and then about 15 sec later come on normal .. should i be worried

also when should a overdrive be used on my mountaineer.. should i always use it in the city

dont turn O/D off unless you're towing.

iirc a trans flush @ jiffy lube is like $100.
