Sometimes when I start my 1993 Sport sometimes the orange Check Oil light comes on. And sometimes when I start it up, it doesn't come on.

Well I got my oil changed today and they said the "rear main oil seal" might have a leak. When I look into the engine it seems I see oil leaking from the front..

The leak, if there is one, isn't bad enought to leave puddles on the ground nor have I see much oil, if any, on the ground..

Hopefully some mastermind with the 1993 engine here will know. :)

There is an oil level sensor in the pan that controlls the check oil light. It sounds to me like yours is acting up. I'd check the sensor and make sure the wireing connector isn't loose, corroded or damaged. If everything appears to be fine it may be the sensor its self.

My check oil light comes on when I don't put the key in all the way and start it up.

several things influence the check oil light

1) if the truck is on level ground, or on un-even ground (ie, tilted to one side)

2) if the engine has been running (oil is sitting in the valve covers and places).

3) you are really low on oil.

The check oil light means you are quart low. Add oil. Somewhere you have a leak, or are burning oil. My navajo burns about 1 quart every 3k miles (really good, in my mind).

I hope this helps...

yeah, do wha tom says...in autoshop my teacher said if you can get away with putting1 qt in every 1000 miles you are fine. 1 in 3 is good IMHO
