If that means that the door will not open, that doesn't mean it is the child lock, it very rarely/mostly never is actually. Need a lot more info...

child lock will not release even when latch is down. any fixes[/QUOTE

Don't know if you have the same issue as I had.
Both of my back doors had issues. (YES with the child lock off) If whoever is in the back tried to open the door from inside BEFORE the door was unlocked it would jam and could not be unlocked  giving the back passenger an o s..t feeling. The door would not manually unlock or power unlock no mater how many times you try. I found that when you would pull up slightly on the outside door handle you would hear a click from inside the door. All locks would then work and the door could be opened.

We had the door pannel off, lubed EVERYTHING, and couldn't figure out how to fix it. This last Friday my son and I took our early easter egg hunt to the junk yard (treasure yard). We like the junk yard to help figure things out, when it goes snap and shouldn't we move on to another donor. I finally decided that I would just replace the guts, latch and power door acutator. After finding a good donor pair and removing them and well as goofing with a few other I think I found the issue.

You have to remove the inside door pannel and peal back the plastic seal. In side you can see the door latch. There is a rod that comes down from the outside door handle and attaches to the latch. (Photo attached with white line drawn in where this rod should be, Sorry forgot to photo when I did the repair) There is a plastic clip, part white and outside part is yellow. The yellow part unclips and hinges which exposes some threads (second photo) on the bottom of the rod from the door handle. I unclipped it and pilled the rod down a little and snapped it back in place.

TEST it with the door pannel off.
The first time I moved the rod way too much and when I closed the door it would not open so I had to climb in and reach up inside the door to unsnap it to be able to open the door.
Once I adjuted it that seemed to fix it and no more issues so far. I did the rear passenger side in one try and about ten minutes.

Side note. I did end up replacing the drivers side back door guts as I needed a faster actuator and the latch seemed worn, besides I had already bought the parts and the day was still young

Hope this helps someone:salute:.

Mine, 1996, is doing the same thing on rear right door. I'll try this tomorrow since I'm doing brake job on it also. Might have to turn rotors and probably replace bearings in front.
