Hi everyone. It seems like everyone who is on this is on the ball when it comes to all things Explorer so I thought I'd fire out for some help.
I have a 2000 XLT 4wd with about 50k on it. I have two noises that are torturing me (and the dealer who can't find them either.) I've searched this forum and the other chriping threads really didn't apply.
Anyway noise one: a chirp, almost incessantly only at speeds above 45 mph. Everyone who has ridden in it or driven it has tried to find it, definitely coming from up front inside the vehicle. We have pressed on everything while it is happening (It sounds like a rubber- type chirping. high pitched, every few seconds, more or less depending on speed.) I've removed everthing I could, thinkig it was CD's in the console or something in the glove box, but no. Could it be a windshield seal or something? Dealer is stumped but agrees it is not the engine, it is inside the vehicle. Any help would be appreciated.
Another is the moonroof, actually where the moonroof enters the roof (when open.) That area rattles all of the time and if I reach up and press hard on the area behind the moonroof (just above the heads of rear seat passengers, it goes away.) Any ideas on what could be loose up there and how to fix it?
Thanks for taking the time to read this, I sure appreciate everyones time and help.
Rock on,
Kent
