Cig Lighter stopped working

I know there have been a few posts about this, but just incase my description makes any new thoughts come to mind, here is what happened to me.

Not to long ago I picked up a used 2002 xlt. Im pretty happy with it but one day I plugged in a light that plugs into the cig lighter to see if the light still worked. The light worked, when I unplugged the light there was a spark inside the cig lighter and it stopped working after that. I checked the fuses and they all seem fine, I swapped the fuse with another of same amperage but the lighter still doesnt work. Any help would be great!!!

I found the problem!!!

The temp outside finally went above 20 so I decided to go and look at my problem again. I noticed that someone with a similiar problem posted here and mentioned fuse # 9, so thats where I started. I looked at fuse #9 under the dash and it was fine. Then I looked at the manual and it said that fuse # 9 was not used, so I started thinking that who ever it was that mentioned that might not know what they were talking about or that they had a diffrent problem.

I flipped the pages in the manual and found that there is another fuse # 9 under the hood and that it was for power output # 1 or somthing like that and that fuse # 7 under the hood was for power output #2.

My second 12v outlet/cig lighter on the rear of the arm rest worked, so i figured i would swap them and see if the front started working and if the second would stop working, sure enough it did.

I would have expected that the 15 amp fuse under the dash would pop b4 the 20 amp under the hood but it didnt, go figure.

Anyway, ill go down to the parts store and pick up a new fuse.

Glad you figured it out. I don't think that the 2 different fuses are on the same line. Or at least I haven't seen any that were on the same line.
