1998 Eddie Bauer V6
I just bought an immaculate 1998 Eddie Bauer last week. So today (the first day of 2006), I let my girlfriend who has the ****as touch (everything she touches turns to ****) with cars drive 2 blocks to Vons. I figured that she couldn't possibly do anything to the car in such a short distance. To my chagrin, she comes back and says that she tried to plug her phone charger into the cigarette lighter and in so doing, pushed the whole lighter mechanism into the panel! I assume I am going to need to pull off the cover that frames the stereo and climate control. Any suggestions?

there has been a few threads on this before but basically IIRC, you are SOL as you pretty much have to buy a complete bezel unit although in those threads, people have "fudged" a couple of things to try repair the thing with "success".

My condolences on your GF. ;)

Mine used to break the rear view mirror off its mount every time she drove my Ranger. I solved the problem with JB Weld and then later sold the Ranger.

Check out this link; you aren't alone with this problem (the lighter problem anyway)
