Hey all! New to the forum since picking up a new project. Spent my early years on the ranger station with my Bronco II. This new rig makes the 10th midsized Ford I’ve owned and I’m really excited to get back to my roots.
New rig is a surprisingly clean 93 XL. I had to jump on it, being the XL it has crank windows, manual locks, vinyl seats, and wait for it …. 5 SPEED! Factory 3.73 gears makes me happy too. Not a drop of leaking oil on the under carriage. Not an ounce of rust, 180k on the clock and a cool 1800 freedom bucks for the the papers.
On the down side it has no tilt and no cruise and there is the obvious evidence of a dumb high school driver (amplifier wiring) but let’s be honest, there isn’t a first gen X on the road that hasn’t paid it’s right of passage serving as a first vehicle and luckily the dirt bag that owned mine apparently preferred smokin dope in a parking lot as opposed to jumping rail road tracks like the rest.
Plans for a mild lift with maximized flex
Small tire build to keep it optimal with the factory 3.73s (32x9.5?)
Probably a lunchbox locker and some functional accessories for trail, hunt and camp. We get a lot of snow and ice and this will be a daily commuter so it’s got to stay practical. Let me know what you think.
