I think I may have either a clogged or bad injector on my 91 X. Been missing on the middle passenger side cylinder, and I pulled the plug to find it covered with grime. Cleaned it off real well, checked it for working spark outside the engine, and put it back in. Pulled the plug wire and let it run for a couple mins. Pulled the plug back out and it was dry as a bone.
I've heard something about boiling injectors in vinegar to clean them? Does this work, or is just an urban myth kind of thing? Judging from the build up on the plug, I'm guessing I have a similar build up on the injector.
If the injector turns out to be bad, I have a good set from my old 93 Firebird. I had the 3.4L V6 in that car. I know that a lot of guys were swapping SVO injectors into the Camaro/Firebird, so I would assume that I could swap the Firebird stuff in my X. I don't know the specific flow numbers on the injectors, but assuming they're slightly smaller due to a smaller engine. Would it be OK to run them on the X for a short while until I can get the proper injectors, or even just running one of them to swap the one bad one I may have?
