I plan to make another trip out to cleghorn in a month or so. Whenever I can get a friend or two to go. Looked like a lot of fun stuff out there that I need to go back and try... after I swap out my leafs
Cut a relief front and rear so the u-bolt plat does not contact the top of the spring and round off the edge.
When the stock u-bolt plates are underneath the axle this point does not make contact with the spring. (except at full droop)
The only thing that should be contacting the spring is the circular portion around the center pin hole.
What is happening here is vibration at that sharp edge is causing work hardening and stress cracks to develop on the top of the spring. It's not over-flexing that is causing the failure.
