My '93 X has been making some terrible clunking noises when I turn left (mostly into my driveway). I also hear the clunks on some right turns, but not as often. Also, I am getting a weird groaning or whirring sound when the truck is idle, it kind of switched from a whir or groan to a screach on occasion. The sound is not loud, but it is noticeable and can get annoying. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If the clunk noise feels like it comes frome under your feet then I would suspect worn Radius arm bushings (very common problem). As for the whirling noise I would check all fluid levels (power steering, coolant) to ensure they are not low.

Don't know the setup on yours but check your idler pulley on the serpentine belt for the whir and groan. I just replaced the bearing on my '97. I heard a whine for a while and then a scraping sound and then a sort of squeal. First I thought it was the alternator. NAPA couldn't find the right match for the pulley but had the bearing (even better).
