Clunking and Knocking.

Hi all, New owner of a explorer on a S plate here.
I have got a knocking and clunking from the front of the car and I know it will be antiroll bar bushes and drop links, Does anyone know the part numbers so that I can get them from RockAuto's as they are much cheaper than ford UK (they wanted 45.00 per drop link).

Also I seem to have quite a oil leak from the rear of the engine that drips onto the exhaust is this a common area or is it something that will need investigation.

Welcome mate- if you use the search function you will find part numbers in threads- type in drop links etc, the oil leak may be the rear timing tensioner, I say this as when I replaced mine, I never wound it in enough and I had the same leak onto the exhaust! Its not a common fault as far as I know to have a leak there. I think its a 22mm socket and you will need a decent solid chunky 3/4 inch socket set- as 1/4 inch is not man enough for that one- it needs to be really tight in. Access is by removing the drivers side wheel arch and you can see the tensioner at the rear of the engine- its the only bolt that is 22mm in that area.

Just done my drop links today. Hooray, no more knocking and clunking. My Ford dealer hadn,t got all the parts. Had to have a bush off a Ford Transit, which is the same and then a new bolt.
You might be lucky at your local Ford dealer.

Do you still have the packaging or invoice to get the partnumbers from do you? I have had a search over the forum and cant find any reference to the part numbers so I can go into Ford tomorrow and get some firm prices.

Also thinking about it, if i bought from RockAutos I doubt it would work out much cheaper due to having to pay import tax on the items, is this just the vat @15% or is there more to it than that.
