hey all, I've had my 97 X about 2 weeks. I just noticed a clunking noise when I brake. It only happens when I apply brakes hard, not like stompin on them but pretty firm pressure. I think the pads need to be changed, could this be causin the prob or what..

Thanks

Dan

Probably not your brakes. 3 Possibilies, in order of liklihood:

1) driveshaft u-joints slipping
2) front suspension
3) brakes, pads or anti-rattle clips or vac leak

Since I'm not familiar with 2nd gen front suspension, I can't comment much on it. If it was 1st gen, I would know exactly what it was (worn radius arm bushings).
