I did the swap. It appears 00 Explorer's cluster is not 100% compatible with 02 Ranger.
1) I never had door ajar light on with the cluster 02 Ranger came with (replaced burnt bulb...no go...then I found something wrong with plastic sheeting of the cluster circuit near the door ajar light. The sheeting came a part and found rust on the circuit), so I don't know how Ranger's door ajar light acts. With the 00 Explorer's cluster, the door ajar light comes on only when ignition is in "ON" position or more. If this is how it is on the Ranger, then I guess there is no problem.
2) Theft light does not blink. I noticed a difference between 00 Explorer and 02 Ranger circuits. There is a resistance attached for the theft light on the 02 Ranger. 00 Explorer doesn't.
Other than these 2, it seems 00 Explorer's cluster works in the 02 Ranger.
