Hi there fellow explorer drivers

I myself drive a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport 4x2.

Someone told me that I can put a newer cobra engine in my explorer.

I was wondering is that true that I can put a brand new cobra engine in my 4.0 SOHC Explorer.

Or was the guy just bull ****ting me.

With time and money anything is possible.

Check to see if there is an adapter or if the rest of the drive train is compatible.

There is someone on the board who can do the wiring harness for you I forget his name....... hmm maybe somone else could chime in

The rest is merely a matter of labor and fabrication skills fitting a V8 into V6 mounts, and putting it all together again.

LOL not that I actually know if this would work, I assume it would with the proper set up. Chief swapped a 5.0 HO into his 4.0 Explorer. I had a 5.8 cobra r motor swapped into a 5.0 mustang, so I assume it is possible to swap a cobra motor to an explorer.

The major..well major or the major problems is that the new mod motors are SSOOO wide. You will have a very very hard time fitting it between the frame rails.

Ah the typical pic... a 4.6 vs 5.0... Older is better.

I really don't think it's "possible" I know with enough cash you can do anything, but it'd probably be more trouble than it's worth. It's just too wide.
