anyone have 17x9 or 18x9 cobra rims from explorer express? if so, do you run spacers with them?

also, do these rims stick out past the fenders in the front? what about in the back?

how do you like them? how do these affect your gas mileage? how do these affect the wear in your ball joints and your wheel bearings? how much heavier are these rims compared to your stock rims?

thanks!

You can probably get most of those answers by calling John at EE if someone doesn't anwer here. John will give you straight honest answers. If a part isn't for you, he won't "hype" it up and still try to sell it; he only sells you what you need.

I used to have 17x9 cobras all around on my truck, I ran spacers in the front ( the ones from explorer express) But eventually put them on the back(to space them out ) because the only time it rubbed was on full steering extension and I never really did that . . . . .Anyways about them sticking out , if you run spacers they are still pretty tucked in the wells, depending on which flares you I have eddie bauer flares and it was fine. . . As far as liking they were cool for the time I had them but I felt like I cheaped out by not getting the 20s. they do look pretty cool when theyre moving on the truck though and they are nice and wide which is cool for the stance of the truck. Didn't seem to effect my gas mileage because i had pretty much the same size overall diameter i think it was actually half inch smaller. . . which gave it a tiny bit more gear. . . (275/55/17) I never had any problems with ball joints or bearings and i ran them for about 2 years. . .They definatly are a little heaver with those big tires on there, it hurts the ride a little bit definatly specially if your switching over from the stock rims and tires. It's not that bad though. . . you can correct it with a nice set of shocks like the IAS or doestch techs. hope that helped!

I'm running 17x9 Cobra R's from EE and spacers were not required. The tires do rub on the swaybar at full turns, but that's not really a prob for me. I like them alot, especially like having the wider tires.

thanks for the input guys!

nick -- i thought about 20s... but i figure 20s are a lot heavier than 17s or 18s ... what kinda gas mileage do you get w/ your 275 wide tires?

tas -- wow! nice truck! i like the overall setup. have you noticed as accelerated wear in your joints/bearings? what kinda gas mileage do you get with your entire setup?

Thanks guys!

99monty -- I haven't noticed any increased wear on the joints/bearings as I've only had these wheels a few weeks. IMO, I don't think the cobras are going to make your suspension components any worse. As for the gas mileage, I believe it has improved with the setup that I have. It probably has alot to do with my chip and how it has made my X run alot better than it has before. I have to check my mileage more accurately one of these days.
