Hey guys, I might catch some flack for this, but I have heard of people putting Cobra R's on explorers. I know most of you are offroaders, but just wondering if anyone has any info on this? Is it a good idea? are they actually a truck wheel? Where can I get them cheap. I have seen them and think they look great. Just wondering. Thanks all.

No, I think that the cobra R rims look good on Explorer too... I once saw a 92 explroer sport with a set on it. and it looked sweet it was not lowered stock hight 2wd. If I were you I would go for it but the thingI would do first if you have a 91-94 get rear disc brake because the drums dont look to hot behinde the cobra R rim..

thanks Kris, do you know anyplace where I can get them at a good price? I heard one guy on here he could get them for 169 each or something like that. Thanks for your help
Jason
btw I have a 99 sport, so I have disc brakes all around

i saw them at Brothers. Its a mustang performance place. i'll look and find the catolog and find you some numbers..they are 169 a piece. Thats the titanium not chrome. The chrome are like 229 along with the painted.

Check with Kenny Brown and Steeda. Both have tinkered with "sport" versions of the explorer. I know Steeda offers R's marketed specifically for the Explorer...

Good luck, Rob

no Explorers, but plenty of Fords:
'82 Mustang GT 351W
'82 F250 351W
'91 Mustang LX 5.0
'78 Mustang II pro street

QTRMILE,

Hey thanks alot, where can I get ahold of them? Do you know their web addresses? Just wondering, thanks
Jason

Both of these companies focus most of their efforts towards Mustangs, so I'm not sure how much info their is on their websites, but here they are nontheless:
www.steeda.com www.kennybrown.com

Steeda actually offers a complete truck catalog. I think there is probably more info on the Kenny Brown site. Both companies have a reputation for excellent products (not always the cheapest prices...)

FWIW, I love the look of R's on Explorers. I've been trying to talk a buddy into going with them on his AWD 5.0 '97.

Good luck, Rob

Hey man just read about your topic and have the found the best price. I also have a mustang so I have lots of magazines to find this stuff in. Ford Racing Performance Parts (Part number M-1007-D178) has the rims for 150 bucks. They are 17x8's though but that should hold plenty of tire. Hope this helps you out.
