hey guys ,i know this is explorer forum but my question has not been answered over at the ford forum so gonna ask you guys .

i have a 2000 ford e250 work van .the cat clogged up on me so i gutted the catalytic convertor (a new one costs 500.00 to 700.00).
after doing this the van threw the code p1151 .
i assume this is directly related to gutting the cat because there was no codes before that .

so i guess the question is "is this a direct result of gutting the cat?"

could my 02 sensor have failed during the removal reinstall process?

now another question

my ABS light came on now too.does this e250 have that same sensor in the rear differential like the explorers??

thats my first thought .its too wet outside right now to go look but i suspect so .

thanks explorer forum. i know i can count on you guys .

replaced the 02 sensor on drivers side .
should the cel have went right out?
it did not so i cleared it with my scan tool .takes like a 40 mile trip to set the cel light .so we will see .

I'm tackling a nagging P1151 issue right now and have been for the last few months. I swapped out the O2 sensor a while back and it did nothing. Remember, the sensor is just the messenger. The problem is somewhere between the MAF and the sensor. Lots of potential issues, from vacuum leaks to PCV issues to EGR to exhaust leaks. The P1151 seems to be a ***** to diagnose. I've read a ton of threads all over the www and there isn't a definitive post out there that has helped me yet.

I'm still searching.

Coincidentally, I just dealt with the ABS issue and solved that quite simply by swapping the sensor in the rear diff as you mentioned.

well to soon yet to see if the light stays out .took the van to advance auto and they read the abs codes for me .

b1158
b1155
left front sensor malfunction .gonna see if it can clean the sensor first .if not then replacement is next .
i dont think the drive up there and back was long enough to throw the 02 code yet .
i just done the rear sensor thinking that was it .i was wrong .

C1230
C1102

Were my codes.

F85Z9E731AB is part # for rear sensor I used to make the code go away.

Now if only I could get P1151 out of the way. I've tried a lot of things. Seems to only happen at freeway speeds and even then it's sporadic. I did a 1000 mile round trip vacation this summer and "only" got a CEL twice on the whole trip (once there, once back).

Other times, it's twice in one day and then nothing for a few weeks. Mileage seems to be taking a hit, despite the fact the truck runs great most of the time.

well seems the cel light issue is gone .replaced the front drivers side 02 sensor and p1151 went away .

now on to the left front wheel abs speed sensor .tried cleaning the sensor but that didnt work so replacement is next up .
it is raining now today in ne pa so i will update when i can .

autozone has the part for 59.99 but its a duralast part .napa has a much better part i am sure and its only like 61 something so i will go with the napa part. and its right in town too.

I wish my P1151 issue went away with just a sensor change. :(

judging by the sporadic issue you are having it almost sounds like a intermittent wire lead .
when you say swapped it does that mean you replaced with new?or swapped side to side?

I put in a brand new sensor, driver's side front.

For what it's worth, I didn't get a CEL for a while after the sensor was replaced, so you're not out of the woods yet. I hope you are.

p.s. whenever I throw a code and read it with my Scangauge, it says I have three codes:

P1151
P0000
P0000

well i hope i am out the water .....lol.....
my problem started when my cat clogged up and i limped it home at 15 mph .i think all that back pressure killed my sensor(aka clogged the air vents).

only code i had was the 1151 and some abs codes .

p000 means no codes present .??have you tried disconnecting the battery for awhile to reset the computer?
just deleting the code with a scanner probably keeps the code stored in memory .

I've reset the PCM many times via the battery method.

Yeah, the P0000 code is weird, but there are always two accompanying the P1151.

I've never had another CEL since I bought the truck 6 years ago, even when I get leaky gaskets on my headers (three different occasions).
