Has anyone changed their stock column shifter knob? (It wouldn't work in the newer explorers with the OD button.) I think it would be neat if it was something other than that plastic thing.

If anyone has done it, is the stock one threaded or glued on?

I haven't done it but am sure it has been done. I'm thinking about getting a skull w/glowing eyes shift knob and put it on the end of the column shifter. It would be easy enough to put the o/d light in the instrument cluster and put the o/d switch on the dash.

it is glued on. put a pair of vise grips on there and pull like hell, it will come off. twist a little bit too to break the glue. its on there good now, but after you take it off, it'll come off easy from now on. everytime i turn left now i have to reach over to the passenger seat and get my shifter nob. have fun!
