Looks like one of the best deals I've seen. A KKM is $100 and doesn't include a new tube.

i got the same deal from e-bay also. Same people actually. I have a 93 X. I paid 109 for the complete air intake and s/h. I am happy with it! Between 2-3000 rpm it has a slight whistle to it. My truck is a bit more responsive now.

thats good news. thanks for the responses

I read the Ebay ad carefully and it states the filter is NOT a K&N unit. Just fyi:(

ya i did see that. i wonder if the k & n i have would work with it? if not, this setup still has to be better than my
k & n alone. it says it's equal to a k & n.

you have a 99, i'm almost psitive that they don't make one for my 96 4.0. almost positive, i'll still look a little more though. thanks

If you have an intake like he second pic you dont need to buy anything except the K & N filter. Remove the end of the air box and crimp the filter holder to fit snugly on the K & N.

wow, cool. i have the k & n already, so thats what i'll do. also, i would guess the filter gets dirty faster b/c it's exposed. do you suggest those filter covers or will they defeat the purpose? thanks

i'd just clean the filter more... i mean, wouldn't a cover get dirty and restrict flow just like the filter ?

ya, thats exactly what i was thinking.

and thanks hrbib21, just in case i do get a mac.

The only bad thig about just slapping a filter to the end of the factory tube, is that a Aluminum tube is smoother and less restrictive. Plus you'll be sucking in a lot of "hot engine bay air". It's best to just get a real cold air kit, the one that draws air from the wheel well, or just stick with the K&N drop in filter.

Nice tip though...:D it does look cooler than the factory box!:D
