common problems on a 98' mountaineer?

im thinkin about getting a 98 or newer mountaineer, with a 5.0 AWD, any common problems i should look out for ?

common problem #1 tehy last a long time (oh wait that's a good thing)

The only thing that *will* be wrong with it is the passenger side exhaust manifold will leak and it will have a ticking sound. Other than that, its the most reliable explorer ever made.

yeah, they are durable as all hell.

i'll add though that your ball joints will go bad about twice as often as they should

how often is that then ? And whats the going rate to replace em
 






Watch for front drive shaft failure. I think its about a $200 part. Mine failed on during my extended warrenty.

This is a very good truck... and Im NOT a Ford guy!
 






your the only person i've heard of with that one smiley (not to say there aren't others, but i don't know of them)

basically i beat the piss out of my truck and it drives better than new at 160,000 miles
