I have a tan 2000 XLS with the matching tan interior. I hate all of it. I want to completely recolor the interior, including the seats and carpet and roof fabric. I bought a can of black SEM flexible color coat to test similar materials with. I bought a carpet swatch, some velour, a fabric similar to the smooth interior fabric, a small swatch of smooth leather (like the back of the seats) and some thin flexible foam to see how it stretches. I am satisfied with the texture and color on all samples, so now my only problem is how to go about it.

How do I remove the door panels and as many dash pieces as possible? Also panels and such in the very back. Hatch panels. Doorframe panels.

I also need taping advice and any warnings I can get. Also I would like the paint the outside lining panel of the stereo/air unit a different color.

Last thing is the dash. I want to take off the plastic cover off of around the instrument cluster and the very small lining around the dials. Tips on how to remove clear window?

Door panels, two screws holding it right at the inside handle, then take the little plastic piece off from around the door handle. The rest is just clips.

Dash, it's mostly held together by torx screws and 8 mm bolts.
To get the drivers dash out, there's 4 torx screws on the bottom, right where your knees are, that plastic piece is clipped on after that, just pull. Then the metal panel comes off with a few bolts. From there you can take apart the piece near the instrument cluster.

The radio bezel is held in by 2, 8mm bolts on the bottom, right above the HVAC.

Other than that, all the panels in the car are literally clipped on.

Get yourself a good set of panel removal tools and you can get the panels off.

To take apart the instrument cluster, there is a post somewhere here.

If you have trouble with any, there are many guides on here, or just post and ask.

And, just my 2 cents, if you have the carpet and all the panels off already, do some dynamat and a nice cleaning of the floor. Maybe even put a coating of it.. I know some people have put bedliner under their carpet.

Thank you, quick, simple and informative. I will definitely take your advice and do the deep floor cleaning. I know I have a lot of glass still down in all the crevices, even after cleaning it four or five times. Glass removal service is spendy, and I am quite stingy.
