Composite upper strut mount

Found this over the weekend after removing the front fender liners to apply Woolwax rust prevention. The entire upper strut mount is a composite that appears to be mechanically fastened to the steel frame.

There is a steel arch the goes around the top of the wheel.

You can see some of that when you open the hood.
 






Interesting, hopefully this helps reduce rust-through failure, which has historically put many vehicles in the grave.

How is it fastened on? On the bottom it looks a bit like rivets, so possibly rivets up top too but covered in body filler?
