2001 explorer sport Trac
I have a question .my 01 sport Trac just died while driving slow in town .it was low on gas (I wasn't driving) . We figured it was out of gas. Put in for gallons checked the switch for the pump and let her crank. No luck . Loosened an oxygen sensor. Cranked and no start.

Had it towed to the dealership . They ran a compression test . All six cylanders were reading between 40-60 percent . Quoted me 20 hours of labor .

This truck ran ok, could haul mulch and worked all right got about 14 mpg.

What do those low readings mean? Is there timing chain bad, it has the death rattle but we kept RPM s low so I figured it was ok.

Any thought on things I should check before junking? I was thinking about the crank position sensor because it just died and would restart . Now I am not sure.

Timing chain jumped or let go, bent valves. Huge job to repair, engine must be removed.

Thanks. I'm working towards junking it . Anyone need a seat or tonnough cover?
