i have a 94 and the engine check light came on earlier yesterday and i finally read the code with one of the code readers and then took it to CT automotive where they read to code also and the mechanic said that one of the cylinders is not reading or registering with the computer therefore causing CEL to go off

well when i first drove it there were no problems just the light but after driveing a while i would notice that the accleration would hesitate and the light would come on and off when driveing regulary but then it would stay on indefinetely

does any one have advice or experence with this sort of problem

change your plugs and wires and go from there. i do not think there is even a code for what he is saying

really........ hmm ok, well it is at the CT automotive i will listen to what he has to say i did replace the plugs and wires this summer so they arnt that old. 2-3 thousand miles on plugs

do you know the actual code that he pulled from teh computer

no i did not ask dam i should have. i tried to read the codes from one of the code readers from walmart but it got a little confusing trying to distinguish the short pauses from long

getting the explorer back today still not fixed he replaced the crank sensor but still did not turn off the CEL i will get back to yall on the exact code and hopefully i can fix it.

It may be the computer that is bad. The shop should have a tester that they can check each cylinder and make sure it is firing and being giving a command from the command to fire. I had an oldsmobile that was dropping a cylinder but it didn't trigger the CEL It turned out it was the computer.
