Console/armrest door hard to open

2000 Explorer Sport with a center console/armrest door that is very hard to open ... It really takes some muscle -- to the point where I'm afraid I'm stressing other parts by yanking so hard on the door. Anyone else had this problem? I tried lubing the two catches, but no improvement.

interesting - I'd look at the little latch part in the console. Maybe you should try stretching them out a little so they don't clamp so tight when it's closed
