Wondering if anyone has any clue to what the temp of the coolant is on the cooler side of the radiator....

Ultimatly wondering if heat is actually induced into the transmission fluid most of the time on a hot day.

no they are independant.
My water temp runs at 190, but I have a 180 stat.
The tranny temp runs from 160-to 180 with my cooler and electric fan while the water temp stays constant.

Wpurple, if you're referring to the coolant temp inside the radiator on the trans cooler side, it's probably around 150*. This is an educated guess because the coolant enters the radiator on the passenger side at 180-190*, then flows across the radiator where it's cooled by the airflow. By the time it reaches the trans cooler side, it should be substantially cooler than the temp it entered the radiator.

I have a fan thermostat mounted on the trans cooler side of my Cherokee radiator, and it's set to 160*. It very rarely turns the fan on, except when it's been idleing for several minutes. That's why my guess is the temp's normally about 150* in this portion of the radiator.....

I just installed a second external transmission cooler.
It is a medium to small size but thought while towing it can only help.
(in stop and go traffic the temp easily climbed to the 190's)

On my way home form work today it ran about 130 with an ambient temp of 80

Will have to see how it does towing through the hills of NY and PA on the way to FL from CT this summer

Now I am wondering if it will run too cold in the winter although I did not disconnect the radiator cooler. Just figured that the extra external cooler will dissipate enough heat in the winter such that the heat gained by the radiator cooler will be substantially reduced. Will have to experiment with it.

Just didn't like the idea of using those plastic "nails" to mount the cooler through the radiator and a/c condenser.
