2017 Explorer Platinum
Hello.
I am new here.
I'm sorry to start a new thread if it's already covered.
I have 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum.
Cooling fans run as soon as I start the car.
It is normal?
Thanks
Peter

Welcome to the Forum Peter.
The fans on mine start running about 15 seconds or so after a cold start.

Peter

If the AC compressor is running, yes. AC will activate with defrost above a certain ambient temperature.

I did not have the 'Defrost' on or anything that would require the compressor to come on. Air temp was 33.8 F.

Hello.
Thank you for your welcome.
Thank you for the answers.
I only have a car for two weeks, I'm only dating him.
I have to take a good look at everything that was turned on.
I know AC was off. The car was in the garage and the temperature was approx. 39.2 F (4 C - celsius).
I do not know who the fan is running all the way. When I start my car, the fans starts running and when I park car the fans still running. I assume they run during the ride. Engine temperature is OK.
Can it be that it cools the gearbox and the intercooler?
Peter

If your fans start about the same times as mine, about 15 seconds after start, then it has to be normal. I've never actually looked at mine until I read your post. They will continue to run approximately 5 seconds after turning the ignition OFF. From what I'm gathering from your posts is that everything is working normally.

Hello.
Then it's probably normal. They also run only after the ignition has been switched off (approx. 3 to 5 seconds).
On the second car I have (Chrysler) the fan runs only when the engine temperature is high.
That's why I ask if it's normal for Forde Explorer.

Peter

Sounds fine. Mine shut off a bit quicker than yours, but you and @peterk9 have the same engine. I have the smaller turbo motor. My fans run almost immediately as well.

The PCM is smarter than I am about these things. Enjoy the Explorer fling. :D
