Would it be possible to switch the corner light with the top light? I think it would give the Explorer a more unique look.

Do the plugs just swap?

Has anyone done this before?

Could someone do a Photoshop?

Hm, it seems it's slightly smaller.. I guess I Could cut the wires... the turn signals would only be on the sides, sorta like the F150 and Mountaineer.

How would this look though, that's the question..

If anyone has done this, please post a pic.

On my '98 I did not switch them but I did change all the bulbs to clear so there was no amber up front. The look is different but it is illegal because when the turn signal is on you are flashing white light. Never got hassled for it though.

An jus incaz sumone axs... no i dont got no pix uf it.

The way it would be, if I did what I proposed.. only the sides of the corners would blink.. it would make the actual headlight look slightly bigger.

What do you guys think?

It's a cheap photo edit, but it gives the general idea.
I personally like it.

I have a feeling I'm going to have to cut the wires and re-wire the lights.. unless someone has any information on this???

Could someone find the part # for those two lights? Top and Corner? (If I have to buy new lights)

(Heheh, it looks like an F150..)

What are the bulb numbers? I would think they are 3157 or so.

Nothing else to add to this idea? lol..

They both can't be the same light.. the sockets are different sizes... apon looking at the back of the corner.. I could be wrong though.. if someone knows for sure...........

I would need to know what bulbs they are to even give you any idea.

The top of the corner light, and the corner of the corner light?... =S

lol, which bulb numbers I meant. 3157 3156(glass base), 1157 or 1156(brass base) etc. (kind of like headlights can be 9006, 9004, etc.)

Ah.. where are all the other lighting people?

Ah.. where are all the other lighting people?

:dunno: I know mine has 3157, but I have a different light set up. My guess is which ever one is the blinker is 3157 and the other is 3156. Which they should be interchangable as far as the light bulb is concerned. But, the base at which it sits in probably has different prongs to make sure you don't mess em up. So you might need to cut the wires to do it if so.

Do you think it looks good?

It'll be the only Explorer here like it.. =)

like this? made mine this way last summer 'cause i'm preping my front lights for a HID retro..

i had to remake the mounting holes to accept the bigger one so they function both as running lights and turn signals.. i also had to modify the bulb holders due to clearance issues..

IMO, it looks good... especially because i'm the only one here in my area that has them that way :D

Looks kinda like a mountaineer headlight...but cool idea. The bulbs in the top light and the corner light are different sizes and the housing won't let them swap. Also, the top light uses three wires (it blinks) and the corner light uses two, so cutting and swaping wires won't work for what you want. I had a similar idea to yours, but I think it will require building your own hybrid light/housing. Good luck!

Dammit.. go n ruin my hopes and dreams... I thought I'd be the only one who has done this... any picture of it lit up at night?

Why aren't the top lit?

You didn't follow the way I had said it, did you?

Oh damn... really? I knew this sounded too easy....

And where the hell can I get that exact grill? Is the emblem removable without leaving crap? (Would it bolt right up?)

I think this would be doable if... some how.. I could cut the wires.. and buy somewhere the sockets that'll work for this exact use..
