I had my 16 Explorer throw three error codes today. Not sure I can even drive it??? While driving down a city street it jerked and I saw a Hill decent type error. It told me to check my manual. So I drove back to my office about three blocks and along that way it jerked two more times like the tranny was slipping and then I saw a "terrain management" code of some kind. Then when I went to put it back in park, it made a crunching type sound and a park assist error came on the center screen! Seriously NOT happy right now, don't know if I need a tow or if I can drive it.

I'd be having it towed to the dealer.

JAPeterson looks like we have the same ride. Mines the XLT with the 202A. Thanks for your input!

tow it to the dealer so they can't say you caused additional damage to the vehicle by driving it. You should have road side assistance with your warranty so I would suggest that you use that.

Send a PM To Ford as they request with all your information, not a thread directed at them.

You have Roadside assistance, if you are not comfortable driving it or feel you shouldn't then have it towed for free to the dealer.

Also, Cory has not been around for a long time and no need for all caps in your words. They do not monitor the boards 24/7 and if you want their attention, PM them as I said so they get a notification. They also can't help diagnose anything as they are a Cs rep behind a computer. Get it to your dealer in the best method you see fit and let them diagnose it.

Welcome to the Forum.
blwnsmoke pretty well covered it all. Good luck. Please report back re any repairs.
Also, please add the trim level of your Explorer to your profile so it shows in the margin. Thanks.

Peter

blwnsmoke how does one "send a PM to Ford"? Is that through this site?
Waiting to hear from the dealership. Already had to file two complaints on the roadside service and loaner car..... will update once I know something.

So I just heard from the dealer. They say it is a bad "range sensor" on the transmission. Not sure I know exactly what this is but.... also I had them look at the lift gate as it likes to go up and down (on my head) when ever it feels the need. They tell me there is a TSB that addresses the sensitivity of it so that will be addressed as well. They said I will get it back hopefully Tuesday.

To send them or anyone a PM you just click on their name shown in the margin and from the pop-up box select 'Start a Conversation'. To find posts from them you can just go to the Forum's 'Search' feature (top right) and search for posts by member FordService.

Glad to hear it seems like you will be taken care of. What is your complaint on the rental? That you don't get one or that they supplied one that is not satisfactory to you? Regardless of how new the vehicle is, the warranty does not cover a rental unless the dealership wants to eat the cost. Only way a rental is provided at no cost is if you have purchased a Ford Extended Warranty.

Did the roadside assistance tow your vehicle to the dealership at no cost to you?
Did the dealership give you the use of a free loaner?
I don't understand what you are complaining about, maybe you could go into a little more detail.
Usually, the Ford representatives that are members of the forum assist a member when they can't get an issue resolved through their dealership. It sounds like the dealership is fixing your vehicle issues under warranty.

Yes I had roadside assistance tow my vehicle To the dealership in which I purchased it which is much further away from my home then the dealership I would prefer to take it to. I had to do this in order to get a free loaner. I was under the impression that while the vehicle was under full warranty and needed service that a free loaner would be provided from any dealership that I would take it to but apparently I was mistaken much to my chagrin. The vehicle they provided is fine however they gave it to me without any gas in it. Literally less than an eighth of a tank. After being inconvenienced by the break down and inconvenienced by having to stop and get gas before I could get home and potty my dog who by then had been home for 12 hours without pottying I'm a little frustrated! As for the roadside service in the 25-mile Trek to the dealership the driver decided to light up a cigarette on the way without bothering to ask me! And for someone who has sinus issues it wasn't a good situation as I am still dealing with the results of that yet today. So I guess we'll see how the service repair goes on the vehicle and go from there....
