Well after converting my 2wd 91 to 4wd (with auto tcase / man hubs) the 4wd high worked for a littile while but it never went into 4wd low. After about a week the 4wd high stopped working all together. I did the white button test and it said it was the tcase. I did a contact cleaning on hte shift motor twice and it still doesn;t work. I just pulled the lubrication plug and a whole lot of fluid came shooting out. Now correct me if i am wrong but isn;t there only suposed to be enough in the tcase to where you can touch it with your pinky? If this is true than could having too mich fliud stop it from shifting?

Thanks
Chris

Yes, only a little should drain out or none. Is your breather tube clogged? To much fluid could be a bad thing but not sure about engaging?

I'll check on the breather tube and make sure the rest of it drains out. I was also thinking that the brushes and springs inside the motor were worn out so i bought some new springs to see if that works.

Thanks
Chris

Alright I drained the fluid and got it to the propper amount in the tcase. Checked the breather, it was ok. 4wd still didn;t work. So i pulled the shift motor once again and tried the new springs and still nothing. So now I am thinking about buying another shift motor or getting a manual shift tcase. What do yall think?

I am surprised you did not go manual 4wd shifter all the way. Since you were already spending the money. I have never really heard of problems at all with manual shifters. I hear all the time with the push buttons though.

Yeah I also have never heard much problem with the manual shift tcase. The reason I didn;t go with that in the first place was bacause the donor truck I was using had an auto tcase therefor I just pulled that out and stuck it in mine. I am going to probably call around today if I have the time to and see who has a maunal tcase.
