Looking to add a 12 to my system. I'm thinking of getting either a Kappa Perfect or the ED ek12.
I listen to 75% rock/alternative, 12.5% techno, and 12.5% hip-hop/r&b. I plan on building a sealed box.
Anyone have any opinions on the Perfect vs. the eK12?
Haven't set my mind on the amp yet, but the Coustic amps seem ok for the price range.
Does anyone have experience with Coustic?
How about the Avionixx line that ED recommends?
I don't want to pay more that 250 for an amp, preferably less than 200.

biased

of course =P

I run 2 Infinity Kappa Perfect's off my Fosgate 851S (950+ @ 2ohm) in my custom box. I really have nothing more than my friends RF and L7 setups. I've heard nothing but good about the ED/RE/x..'s, all of them. I love mine, for both SQ and SPL. If you do it right, any sub can sound profound (well of course, an adequate non-walmart one).

I think you should take a listen to both of them first. Since I own them (along with another person who has reference series), this may sound bias. But I love mine, he loves his, it's really gonna have to come down to your personal preference.

Draft, thanks for the reply. I too have heard nothing but good on both subs. I don't have a reason right now to choose either, I have a feeling that the Infinity will be the best choice for the type of music I listen to, mostly rock & alternative such as Lincoln Park, Blink 182, and some Hip/Hop R&b, but mostly rock. I've heard that the Perfects are pretty tight in a sealed box, and I think that's my preferance, tight bass, not big boomy bass.

Thanks again, I'll be posting pics when it's all done...nothing fancy, but I am going to make a simple box with a integrated amp rack.

Ru Dawg, let me give you some fatherly advice when it comes to stereo equipment for your vehicle. I know you have heard this before, but it is something you should live by. "You Get What You Pay For"!! With that said, don't pinch to save 10 bucks here or there, it will bite you in the long run. You will not be happy having saved a few bucks now and then having to do the same thing again next year because the quality was not there. That is why I chose to go with Alpine components and Boston Speakers. I wanted quality sound for my bucks. Just some words of advice. Take them or leave them. Hope that helps.

i had an e12a. most amazing sub i've ever ownd. The k series is an great sub for the price as well. infinity has always been over priced to me.
