2003 Ford Explorer XLT
Good Afternoon, I have a 2003 ford explorer XLT 4WD with about 180k miles on it. About 2 weeks ago we heard a vibrating noise coming from the front end of our explorer and just last week the truck gave out. I was at the drive thru getting take out and when I turned left, I heard a grinding noise come from the right side of the truck. I felt the tire locked a little. I straightened out the tire and when I did, I heard a loud grinding/cracking noise. I was moved the truck forward and waited to be towed home. When standing in front of the truck the front passenger tire looks a little tilted inward towards the top of the tire. Last year we replaced the wheel hub and bearing on the driver side and out problem was fixed as we had the same issue. I purchased the wheel hub and bearing assembly kit as last time but when we took it off the assembly, it looked fully intact. I did notice the part ( I think its the axle) with the plastic accordion covering is exposed. I am not sure what this part this is.

Put a new axle in it. It'll make a lot of popping or grinding noises as dirt etc gets in it.
