Has anyone tried this? As I'm working on my bl the the thought crossed my mind. Do you guys even think it's possible?

I don't have any direct expertise myself, but as I recall, the 4.6 couldn't fit in your truck because it's too wide, which is why they put the 5.0 in instead, even though that was the only use for that engine after 1996. Think you might have to bash your engine bay out just a wee bit. If you want a 5.4, you might be better to start with a 3rd generation 4.6, to simplify a nasty process.

I swear someone on here has done that to a 2nd gen, I'll see what I can find.

Yeah nvrmind the person I was thinking was planning to swap a 5.4, but didn't follow through for the reasons zpn_by stated along with sticker shock I'm sure.

P.S. I took a look at the 99 V8 triton expedition in my driveway, and there really is no way to fit it in, you might even have to modify the frame :sawzall:(I may be wrong about that).

I am sure that i have seen at least one :D 4.6 swapped into a Ranger.

Now, i understand that the 5.4 is taller and wider than the 4.6. However, nothing is impossible.

I think that the DOHC Lincoln 5.4 would be awesome...

If i currently had a garage available, i would try the swap myself.

the 6.0 powerstroke would be mint!

Well why not just try a 351w. I know its not a mod motor but still. More displacement for more power.

My thoughts exactly, and people have done this swap before.

True on the 351w I saw basically the same ex that I have w a 5.0 swap it intrigued me lol

351W swap

Several have attempted the 351W swap but very few have completed it because of numerous technical issues and the expense: turdle's mounty moves on
Physically a 347 would fit easier but there are still technical issues that have stumped many. Without a significant body lift there isn't room for high flow headers to allow the Windsor V8 to achieve its performance potential. I decided to retain my SOHC V6 and attempt a supercharger installation.

That sounds awesome! I just did a 3" bl just this past weekend was kinda a pita lol
