I am thinking about upgrading to cross drilled rotors but im not sure if ebay is the right place. Brakes are one of those things that you really dont want to get a faulty or cheap set. Who has gotten theirs off ebay and what are your experiences? Any particular seller you can reccomend or steer me away from? thanks!

Cross drilled rotors aren't really an "upgrade" - they are mostly a cosmetic change, unless you are increasing the rotor size and changing the caliper to a better designed caliper (more pistons).

"Cross drilling" is done to assist in dissapating heat, it does not increase bite or shorten braking distance, unless you are measuring the 3rd or 4th panic stop from high speed.

On cheap rotors, the drilled holes can be a source of cracking. Most of the e-bay sellers are likely selling cheap Chinese rotors. Look for a known performance brand, like Wilwood or Brembo. Try Jegs or Summit (on-line catalogs.)

I will add one more thing to Springer's comments, the holes are also good for dissipating the gasses that build up during braking. The import point that Springer made is that they are prone to breaking at the holes.

Like he said, they are not an upgrade, if you want to upgrade consider braided brake lines.

What will braided brake lines improve?

Good to know. I'll have to get some for my Mustang! Oh, and for my Explorer too.
