I've reviewed most of the previous posts on this subject, replaced most of the system and it still doesn't work. I have 2 94 Exp's parked right next to each other in the garage, the Cruise works on one and not the other. I'm trying to swap the cruise stuff from the one that works to the one that doesn't, and I still can't find the problem. The parts that I have taken off the one that does not work, still works fine on the one that does work so I must be missing something.

I have swapped out the steering buttons, brake light switches, cruise amplifiers, and the whole diaphragm/servo/cable thing on the front drivers side of the engine compartment. Still, the Exp that originally worked... still works. The one that I'm try to fix still doesn't work.

Is there anything else that I can try or trouble shoot?

Thanks-

Here are some amplifier pics for the next guys that does this.. Nevermind, can't figure out how to put them up.

Have you checked all the brake light bulbs, even the 2 bulbs in the 3rd brake light? The Cruise gets it's ground through them.

I also removed the sterring wheel and cleaned up that mess. I even swapped steering wheels with the one that I know works and that didn't help either. Not sure what to do now.

Does the speedometer work correctly?

there is another thread in this forum on cruise control issues that might help if you haven't checked it out yet.CRUISE ISSUES If that doesn't help maybe we can go from there.

Speedo works fine, brake lights work fine. I've reviewed all the other threads, not sure where to go from here. Seems like I've done and tried everything.

Thanks-

It sounds like you've covered most of what I can think of,assuming the fuses are good I'd start running down the vacum next.Check all your vacum lines and the vacum dump valve.

Is there a specific fuse to look for that relates directly to the Cruise? I've checked them all, under the kick panel and in the engine compartment.. Also, where and what to look for in the Vacuum dump valve?

Thanks

In the fusebox #6 should be to the speed control amp.The vacum dump valve is at the brake pedal, the link I posted above to the other thread explains how to check it.You can follow the light green wire from your cruise amp to locate your triple function switch bypass and your boo(brake on/off)switch to test or swap out.
Your 12 volt power should come from the fuse panel out through your hazzard flasher and out via the Lt green/red stripe wire to the boo switch.from there the Lt green wire comes out and splits off to the 1 tail/turn/brake lights. 2 engine controls/abs control module. 3 the clutch triple function switch(M/T) or triple function switch jumper(A/T)to the cruise amp, still the Lt green wire. That should complete the disable input to the amp.The switches from the steering wheel are the black wire back to the amp ground and the Lt blue/black stripe wire to the control switch input on the amp. With this you should be able to check your power to the amp or disconnect your battery and check for continuity in your wires to see if you have a break in them. There's more to it but I didn't want to make the post too long maybe that can give you something to work from.

Sorry if I was talking in circles but it's been a long day,I awoke at 4am to my fuse box in the house on fire.Never use a heavier fuse than you need for an electric furnace I learned the hard way.I Spent the day putting in a new breaker box and pulling new wires, could'a been alot worse... Good luck with your cruise.

Thanks for the response Critter... Is the #6 fuse located at the kickpanel, or under the hood? Also, is the drake dump valve different than the BOO switch?

I swapped out the switch (which I thought was a brake disconnect type switch) from the post on the brake pedal itself. Not sure what it's called I guess.

I'll mess around with it a little more, thanks-

Yes #6 is in the (kickpanel) The brake dump is a vacum related valve. The Boo is an electrical switch. They are different.

If what you are saying is true, that you basically transferred everything from one Explorer to the next, and the cruise control still does not work, then it has to be either 1)- the clock spring under the steering wheel has to be cleaned or repaired. (It is sprng loaded) or 2)- the dump switch at pedal is allowing the vacuum to dump the system from working. Did you check those items described above?

I had a problem when my CC stopped working and was very confused about why. However, I found a blog that said if you installed LED brake lamps that it might cause the CC to not function. Changed back to incandescent bulbs and CC now working fine.
