CRUNCH ! ! ! !

holy crap:eek: and people say explorers arent safe :p i bet that grille guard helped a lot. i know this is off the subject, but since this threat is about a car crash, ill tell you about one that happened in my neighborhood about 2 weeks ago.....a car chevy cavalier comes down my road at close to 100 mph, goes around a curve and loses it, goes up through mine and my neighbors front yard, misses my X by less than a foot (i saw the skid marks that were literally next to my bumper) then fishtails and the back end hits a lightpole, he flips 2 times and lands upside down in a pond. i heard the skids and the boom and it scared the crap out of me!!!

PS that bimmer in the first pic is sweet :D

i like how in the 4th picture the ford logo on the grille is still holdin up strong! thats pride right there :chug: i would rather drive this totalled ford than some brand new chevy or dodge :D

Yeah, that is a nice hit. Doubt it will be in any body shop though. Actually the passenger comaprtment DID move. Look at photo #1 right over the passenger seat.
That huge dent in the roof is a stress buckle.
Likely from the back end going up in the air when the front end hit the tree.
In the line of work I am in ( collision repair ) I am contunually amazed at what people walk away from.

i'd take the new chevy or dodge....

btw frankrizzo... did the person that cut the x off stop or anything? and i hope the tree that caused the damage isn't what the vehicle is sitting beside in that first pic. hope its the one up and to the right with what looks a battle scar on it..

dang man i feel sorry for him that x is messed up

I would take the new Chevy or Dodge too. Then sell it and get an Ex :p .

That's almost unbeleiveable that the interior wasn't hardly affected at all. Besides the airbags all I see messed up is the dash assembly around the vents it popped out a lil.

This should prove that Ex's are just as safe, if not safer, than any other SUV out there on the US market right now. This is the reason that my mom baught my Ex as a first vehicle for me to drive.

Is that a V8 under the hood?

ever wonder what your airbags look like deployed?

I sort of do because after i drove through a big wooden sign and then through 2 hand rails and the rolled mine never went off.

Come to think of it in the 1st picture which tree is it that he hit? if it is the only tree in the pic then did he roll sideways or what?

That sucks, glad to hear everyone was alright. If your into looking at wrecks check out www.wreckedexotics.com , some of them will make you want to cry.

Head on collisions are scary, that is how I got my X. I had a Ford Contour and a Navigator pulled out in front of me, and I hit him in the passenger side right inbetween the doors. I was going about 35mph, a far cry from hitting a tree a 60, but I still went underneath it and pushed him 20 feet. When my airbags deployed it burned my hands pretty bad, even though I was told the SRS airbags won't do this. Plus they always make airbags look silky and soft in commercials, believe me they're not. They are a canvas like material, when I hit mine the force of the impact casued my face to silde down it, thus removing the skin from my face. Not to mention all the smoke the create when the deploy, at first I thought my car was on fire, it was smokey and I couldn't breathe. I'm sure the airgags saved me from a nasty meeting with the steering wheel though(and I was wearing my seatbelt).

Yeah, it's the tree up to the right (The larger one)

The COOL thing was.....it was an 18 wheeler that made a lane change, cut this guy off and into the median, crashing into the tree. Well, someone else saw what happened, followed the truck got the name off the door, and the Lic#, and came back to the scene with the info!!!

As I'm sure every body would agree. Let's try and not find out how our X's or anything else would hold up. BTW I like how my CR-V looks now and really don't want it altered any time soon.

It's a 4 liter. 95-97 OHV's shared the V8's airbox.

I'v wrecked in mine, Hit a cuolvert at 35 pmh, Stod up on ONE wheel. I cu the wheel and stoped the X from fliping. My Chorm Bumper saved me lots of money. But I swear that when I got on that raod that colvert was not there, I think someone moved it! LOL If you guys want il post pics

Was that a Limited? The interior is exactly like mine; same color and features, looks like.

All I have to say is, that's why we pay for insurance. Of course, knowing how most insurance companies are, the guy with the wrecked X will end up getting a huge rate increase even though he did nothing. If it was a tractor/trailer that did it, he may be able to sue the company and make out like a bandit, especially with a witness.

BTW, hope nobody steals that fine vehicle. He left his keys in it.
