Crutchfield and ?

I was just reading the latest crutchfield and looked at the section where they say what size radio you can fit in the dash. For a 91-92 explorer it says that you can only fit a tape player in there. Well I have fit a full sized clarion CD player in there without modifying anything but the trim ring that came with the radio. Is it just me that found a way to do this or what have others done? Crutchfield is full of it.

i just installed a cd player, jensen 160 watt, fold down/flip off face. fit fine, trim piece and all.

Thats weird, at first I thought you were just reading it wrong but sure enough thats what it says. Just for grins I pulled out an old crutchfield magazine and it said that 'E' and 'U' sizes would fit, whereas the new magazine only had 'U'. So I say Crutchfield is full of it, they have crappy service anyway, I wouldn't recommend them.

I would not think of using them but thought that was pretty interesting since many people rely on them for being a recource. Gives me a place to go and check out the new technology and compare features without talking to the vultures at a retail store.

how did you install it without modifying the trim ring and the install kit I didnt see anyway around and still wanted that custom look install. There is a pic of it on my page.

Yeah sometimes their info is not accurate. I bought some speakers once from them to put in my old B2, they said they were too deep to fit. When I installed them, they fit fine. ALso for the X they say the front speakers size(on their website) is 5.25" That's why I questioned that on this board.

that's funny. i wonder how many people wanting CD players ended up buying tape decks because of that.

im putting an eclipse DVD player in mine in a couple months
