i took my son to the Vancouver airport for his trip to mexico and on the way home my check engine light flashed a couple times then came on steady. my thoughts were of my AutoXray and how only half the screen lights up and now i gotta use a test light to find the damn codes. after driving about 10 kilometers i notice the temp gauge is in the red. i am about to go through the tunnel under the Fraser river and there isn't any place to pull over. i slow down and make it through and there are roadside lights so i can see when i get stopped. i pop open the hood and there is anti-freeze all over the place. i notice immediately the cardboard sticking over the top of the rad. this past week the temp was down to 15f degrees and now it is 45f degrees. i yank out the damn cardboard and get back in. the temp gauge starts to drop before i even start to drive again. within 1 kilometer it is back in the normal range. it is now 4:15 am and i'm feeling like i must be two people 'cause no one person can be so dumb for leaving the cardboard in the rad. this will likely cost me the price of a jug of new anti-freeze. it could have been worse. i was only 99% asleep at the wheel.

ps: please don't tell anyone.......
