I was just curious about this... I already have a K&N Filter with the airbox drilled out. Now I am considering making the custom intake with some 3 inch PVC. Will the intake tube really make that much of a difference considering I don't have an aftermarket exhaust or chip?? I just want to know if I will be wasting my time and should wait until I get some other mods first. Thanks.

I made a intake out of PVC and I can notice the difference and it does not cost alot to do,I even put adapters in for the crankcase breather and it looks real good on your truck.I used 2 inch on mine.I say tou go for it:D

2 inch seems a little small....does it still flow more air than the stock tube. Or is there any way to run a larger tube. I know there are some clearance problems with a 3 inch though. Thanks

Dan

I believe it flows more than stock it made a difference in my truck thats for sure it sounds awesome when you punch on the gas and its a more direct flow than the junk stock tube I also have a KKM.:D

Any pictures of the intake?????

duke16: dont you mean 2" is thinner?? what size is that in the pictures? also, what specific pieces are needed for this?? i saw a listing in another post, but he wasnt sure about everything. thanks.

When I say thinner I mean the wall is thinner. 3" is thinner because there is less wall and a larger diameter inside, making it more prone to heat problems

Mines 2".

Basically it's hot water PVC and a filter adapter for a Suzuki Swift. The seller is "x3racing" and he sells filter adapters for around $25 that actually comes with the cone.

Then you just need the PVC bends, rubber peices, and something for the other hose. I got all the pieces from either Home Depot or Lowes.

The reason that 3" is thinner is that you probably saw schedule 80 2" & schedule 40 3". Schedule 40 is much thinner than schedule 80. To combat the thinness of schedule 40, I put reflective insulating tape on my 3" pipe on my intake tube.
