I've been told that its possible to get a custom box built that will fit under the back seat for your subs. Has anyone done this? If so how did it work out for you? i really want to add a system, but i dont want to lose my storage space and i dont want the speakers out in the open like that.

Without checking, I cannot say whether or not there is currently a pre-fab box for this purpose. I know they exist for certain model/year extended cab trucks.

It can be done custom, but expect a hefty price tag.

If you want to add a system and retain much of your storage space -- consider going with a pair of high displacement 8" drivers.

I'll recommend the Crystal CMP8. It is the most well rounded 8" driver currently available, considering price, output, and sound quality. Available at your nearest Crystal dealer, or through the web -- around $100 shipped unauthorized; which means no warranty.

The RL-i 8" driver may rival it -- though it hasn't been ran through any rigorous testing that I know of, it looks very promising. Available at www.soundsplinter.com

thanks for the info, but putting an 8" in the back still leaves it open to view through the windows, which means it will get stolen :(..

any idea how much that custom box might cost?

forget about under the seats....well, i mean thats worth a shot too but just do a stealth box. they fit in the little cargo pocket or where your factory sub is. im in marietta right now but go to school in rome, i can help you out if you need it. that is, unless go blue is referring to michigan, in which case i cant help you ;) go MSU!

Custom under the seat box, depends on who you go to. I would charge you $150 - $400. It vastly differs based on whether you are looking for ported or sealed as well as what type of finish on the exterior; carpet, vinyl, leather, paint, fiberglass, etc.

Go around and get some quotes from local shops, there are lots around the ATL.

I beleive Q-Logic as well as a few other companies sell stealth boxes for Explorer's, though their build quality and design may be questionable. I say grab a buddy and go at it yourself. Let me know what speaker(s) you choose and I'll give you a good airspace to shoot for, as well as tuning+port area if you decide to go vented.

you can build your own stealth box, i did but if you suck at wood working be forewarned, its not that simple. but yea, if you know your table saw from a hole in the ground you should be ok ;)

Stealth boxes aren't available if you have a 3rd gen with rear air option. In that case you better find out if it's the table saw or a hole in the ground.

alright fish man, i made need your help with this. and yes it is michigan lol.. but i'll pretend you are not from spartanville.
