I cut the front of my airbox off.... the whole thing, figuring that would draw the most cold air in... it worked pretty well. Its 1 am so I can't test it much, but when I floor it, you really hear the engine roar. Is that the 'perfomance intake' sound you guys talk about?
I've got a flat drop-in K&N ... I don't know if it would be worthwhile to cut anymore of it, but right now, it has about a 10x8 hole.... that would be enough airflow for the filter, yes? It is about the same size-wise (the whole) as the filter.
Okay, I'm going ****.... if you really car to answer, thanks... but I'm still searching through the air box threads which are a little messy since most people aren't cheap like me and buy a KKM or K&N ;)

A variation on the "swiss cheese" mod :D

:) I didnt want to take that much time with my 3/8th drill bit (don't ask why thats the only one I have right now.... ;))
I'm guessing its sufficient and I should just get used to that noise and actually enjoy it then?

Yup!

I used a 2.5" hole saw to put 4 new holes in my airbox instead of the swiss cheese method. Works pretty well :)
