2002 ford ranger 5.0 4406
I have an 02 ranger that I did the 98 expo 5.0 with 4r70w trans and 4406 t case. I haven't been able to get the vss stuff quite figured out. I saw done post on using a Dakota digital sgi-5e universal controller and tied in rwabs wiring too input and greyblack wire to output. When this is done do you bypass the abs module. I'm solid up front so I don't use it anyway. Can i cut grey black wire from it and put it to the output. Anybody that has used this please feel free to help. Been trying to get this right for about a year.

I run a 97 f150 4406 with vss and tied the vss output (grey/black) from it into the factory harness.

Are you using the 98 pcm? Reason I ask is because the VSS was moved to the rear diff for 98-10 v8 explorers. The input is a totally different signal.

He might but his ranger should use a speedo signal more similar to the 97 and before explorer. I know my 01 had the grey/black wire to tie the speedo into straight from the t-case.

I had to play with different gear combos to eventually get my speedo correct but it's within 1% with 35" tire and 4:s. I had to change the ring to an 8 tooth instead of the factory 7 tooth I believe.

I'm running the 98 pc. Also my 4406 manual t case is a 98. I didn't think I had to tie anything into it once I got the signal right from the rear diff. As far as I know my ranger used the rear diff too

In that case you need to look into adding the G-force transducer or whatever it is that mounts in front of the gas tank on explorers. It converts the signal I believe.

I've already tried that and I've tried the gem module thing couldn't get either to work

I had read about the speed changer ll also for vss conversion but they quoted me 3 or so weeks and it's been 7. The Dakota digital does the same thing and I can order off summit
