Ok just the other day my front end started to SQUEAK! this sounds like a metal to metal squeak. It is not the break pads, and i can't seem to track it down! I am worried it is the front diff, but i can't figure out how anything in there would get messed up.

If i turn the wheels left to right quickly i get a squeak, but it doesn't sounds as harsh as the squeak i get while driving. Does anyone have any ideas? I am going to jack up the front end tonight and disconnect the rear drive shaft to see if i can figure this out.

that squel might just be the power teering pump...fords are notorious for loud pumps.... check any underhood bolts.... mine squecks a lot b/c all the brakets are ziptied up to something rather than being bolted down.... also check out your body mount bolts.....my body squeaks/rattles a lot b/c the two in the front are not connected to the body

Jim it is not that squeak :-). I hate that squeak to, but there is nothing I can do about it. It is a lot harsher then the PS pump. Like I said it is almost like metal to metal.

check out the body monuts... mine makes a hell of a lot of noise becuase they front body isnt attached to the frame

Check out the balljoints see if the boots are cracked or ripped.

Is it a constant squeak, or does the pitch change with speed? There was a squealing sound in the later models (my "99 included) that was corrected by replacing the dust boot covers? and something else in the hub assembly I think. Can't remember the specifics, but the posts were about squealing front end.
