dana 28 or 35?

how do i find out which axle i have? I need ball joints but they have to know what axle i have.

What year explorer do you have?
If its a 1991 through 1994 it will have a dana 35.
Dana 28 axles are in Bronco 2 and some Rangers had them too.

Its a 91. Thank u! When i need to do the rear ball joints is the rear end the same?

Rear end does not have ball joints.

A lot of parts stores have it in their system that the Explorer had a Dana 28 available because they lump it together with the B2 / Ranger platform for some stupid reason. The only axles on the first gen are a Dana 35 front and 8.8 rear.

Ahhh ok that explains why the different stores kept asking me about the 28 or 35 axles. I was all, uh i dont know lol.
