After I got off the phone with a fellow from fourxdoctor concerning a skid-plate for the front diff. I was a bit confused. He had stated that the bolt pattern on the Dana 35 from the explorer was different from a Dana 35 on a different truck. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but before I go out and order my plate I'd like to find out. Does anybody know???

It is different than a Dana 35 rear diff out of a Jeep but it is the same as a Dana 35 front diff out of any other Ford/Mazda. On top of that I think that Ford may be the only one to use the Dana 35 as a front diff.

that figures.....I'm willing to bet the the ones they make are for the jeeps. Looks like the group purchase just turned into a special order. DOH!!!

I may be mistaken, but I was told by three junkyards that the Dana 35 front bolt pattern differs between Explorers and Rangers. I never verified that but they all said I couldn't use a diff case out of a Ranger and that I had to find one from an Explorer.

Nope Rangers use the same one. They do have a Dana 28(?) I think which is smaller then the 35. For some reason I am not sure if its a 28 or 25. I can't remember. But anyways you would have to find a 4.0l Ranger and they normally have the 35.
