I like how dual exhaust looks but is it overkill for my 4.0 auto sport? should I just get a flow and keep one exit pipe? I'm thinking about the 50 series, if that helps. Also, the guy at exhaust shop tried to pull a fast one on me and thanks to you guys I saw right through the bs, it was sooo funny. He tried telling me that I HAD to use two mufflers b/c I have two cats. So after he get worked up I calmly say " Man.... Can't I just put dual in/dual out on 'er". The was dumbfounded, I guess he thought I was an idiot, we'll most of the time I am, but this forum taught me a few things and saved me about $50. Thanks guys. btw opinion on exhaust.

on my 99 xlt 4.0L i had dual exhaust for a while with a mellow-tone muffler but just recently changed to a single out 40 series flowmaster and it sounds a lot better then the dual, its a lot deeper and meaner sounding, i agree that 2 exit pipes looks better but after i got my single i didnt miss anything about my dual set up

I can't offfer an opinion on single or dual. I think its a matter of choice. 4.0 SOHC? Don't go too big or you lose low end torque.

If you use a single you should stay with 2.5" (from reading here). I am thinking about a single in/dual out for looks and have them both exit behind the passenger rear tire. 50 series delta flow-2.5" in-dual 2" out. Thats just what I am thinking about someday. Others will post their opinions I am sure.

Thanks. Btw I do have a SOHC and I think it's 2.25", but not 100%. I think I will do the single out though, sweeeeet!

At least part of my factory pipe (where I measured) is 2" :(

i listened to these guys awhile back and got 2.25 pipeing, seems to be the best way to go and mine is workin great for me

Single in, dual out, 2.5", is what I have - sounds good and did notice a little more pickup at hwy speeds, i'm pretty sure the sohc is 2.5"

I wish I would of gone with a 50 series and a single exit. Quieter and less exepensive to run. Easy for a stock vehicle as well -- no need to "bump" into things or removing the spare tire. And one thing I've noticed with exhaust shops -- they'll run the exhaust right infront of your diff -- but hopefully they'll put enough room for u to slide it out. Hopefully!

i have always wondered why everyone talks about problems with their spare bein in the way of dual exhaust bc mine was never an issue, when i had dual my spare didnt get in the way of anything

Steve0 if you still have duals - go look and see if the ran the pipe right in front of the diff (inbetween the diff and spare). Here is a picture of mine after the lift, but just imagine it 4" lower! It was maybe 2-1/2"s away from the cover!
