So I got my hid kit in today from ddm. 35 watt 8000k. I got everything installed and it works. I do have some final questions so it's all done the right way. First thing is the new bulbs don't really fit snug in my headlight housing. It goes in then I turn the bulb so it stays in. The passenger side locks ok but the drivers side is pretty loose. Anyone else have any issues like this?

Since no one else will bite, I'll suggest it could be a defect in construction. It will either vibrate and kill the lights, or let moisture in.

Anytime you replace OEM parts with aftermarket ones there is always a chance things might Not fit exactly as intended. With so many different companies making HID kits/bulbs the chances are rather great to have some slight fitment issues. First, since you stated it is only driver's side I suggest you take the bulb out again and make sure it nothing is broken, bent or missing that would cause issues. Also, double check the mounting location on the headlight for the same. Secondly, make sure you secure the bulb you could even use a piece of duct tape, double sided tape, zip tie, etc. to keep the bulb secure. Lastly, you could try ordering another set of bulbs from a different manufacturer. The bulbs are fairly cheap on ebay you should be able to get a set for less than $10. I installed a complete set of HID's, (2 Ballast + 2 Bulbs), I bought on ebay for less than $30 about 3 yrs ago without issue. BTW the brightest HID's are the 6000K.
I hope this was helpful.

I have DDM HIDs

my guess, is that the bulb is not seating properly in the headlight housing. On our headlight bulbs, there are 3 tabs. They only go in one way, and have about a 1/4 turn until they "lock" in.

My experience; The new HIDs have an Oring that is a tad bit larger than the Oring on the stock halogen bulb. This means it doesnt sit in the groove all the way, thus not letting 3 tabs go into their respective spots and lock in. 2 tabs went in, but the 3rd was left ajar due to the oring not allowing the HID bulb to go all the way into the housing.

SOLUTION:

take the oring off the HID bulb, and throw it away. Its a cheaper material, with a slightly higher durometer (diameter of the rubber, not the overall gasket diameter). CAREFULLY pinch the Oring gasket from the Halogen bulb, so it pups up a bit and stick a paperclip or something small in there to prevent it from slipping back into the groove. Go around the bulb removing the gasket from the seat, and slide it off. Alternative: Use an Oring pick like I do :) BE CAREFUL NOT TO NICK THE ORING!!!!

put it on the HID bulb and try it. I also use diaelectric lube, as its non conductive and helps it slide in a little bit easier. They sell it in small sample packs at PepBoys near the parts counter along with other various lubes that you dont use much of.

hope that works!!!

Hmm my kit came with different o rings. I will have to check it out today and switch then. Hopefully it's not 5 degrees today in good ol buffalo ny. And yes I do have them in my stock housing sorry everyone. I have aftermarket headlights too that have black in them and clear corners. What exactly does retro fit mean? I've seen projector head lights on other vehicles but did not get a set.

And thanks for the responses. Despite the looseness the lights look awesome. It's my first hid kit and I can't imagine not having it

hope they last lol, my set of 10K 55 watt DDM hids are on their way out.. hoping they last until it gets warm out

How long did they last you? Can't you just get new bulbs?

i think i did them under a year ago. and yes you can get new bulbs but what you have to watch out with the DDM sets are the voltages. a friend of mine had to buy their harnesses because of power problems. not sure if ours are the same way but just a heads up. i like mine and for the price you cant beat it
