Get into the Mountaineer this morning and it won't start just clicks. I tried to jump it but it still wouldn't start. I had to take my Marauder out in the rain today. :( That was the first time in the four years that I've owned it that its ever been driven in rain. I got home and it wouldn't even click tonight. I can't wait to find out what is drawing it down.

Have u checked the voltage of your battery? One of the cells probably died. I had the same problem. Also check the water level in your battery maybe its a little low?

If all else fails, its new battery time.

If that battery is dead already, you may be entitiled to a new one from the dealer.

The statement "I tried to jump it but it still wouldn't start.", makes me think you have a poor connection or the starter is drawing too much current.

I'll find out shortly. The flat bed is on the way to pick it up.

The Mountaineer is at home in my garage. The battery was shorted out. New battery and down the road. One thing you all need to know that I found out this morning. When the electrical system is completely dead you can not get the car out of park. The tow truck driver had to literally drag the car up the flat bed.

Wow, Good to know

There must be a manual release. I thought I saw something in the owner's manual.

On some Explorers the shift interlock is "disabled" in the "unlock" or #1 position. In other words, do not turn the key all the way to run, just the first position and then apply the brake and try shifting to neutral. Don't know if this applies to the 06/07 or when the battery is totally dead.

I wish I would have read the manual when mine would not come out of park. (By the way it was the brake light switch) There is a manual release in the cupholder under the rubber mat. Dont know why they had to hide it...
